Onne Port records vessel traffic surge, says NPA

Onne Port has seen a rise in vessel traffic, according to Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority, Mohammed Bello-Koko.

Bello-Koko made this statement yesterday in Lagos during the NPA’s newly acquired security boat inauguration according to The PUNCH.

Additionally, he said that “The organization will keep working to increase eastern ports’ prosperity.”

The Onne Port Complex, located on Ogu Creek and the Bonny River Estuary, is the first port in Nigeria to use the Landlord Port Model, which was developed to promote private sector involvement in the marine sector.

“Onne Port has seen increased vessel traffic recently, we cannot rest on our laurels. We’ll keep pushing lobbying and energizing stakeholder opinion in order to expand the fortunes of the Eastern Ports.” Bello-Koko stated.

Bello-Koko pointed out that “More vessels will be visiting the eastern ports as a result of the recently acquired security boats.”

Bello-Koko expressed his satisfaction at the fact that the security patrol boats he mentioned will help him accomplish his aim of increasing vessel traffic to the eastern ports of Onne, Rivers, Warri, and Calabar Port Complexes, to which four of the commissioned vessels have been allotted.

He described the unique qualities and many uses of such maritime vessels as well as the revolutionary impact they have.

“We are incredibly capable of responding to new threats and being ready for security breaches. The security concerns of using such superlatives here are why I have decided not to disclose them.

“We are extremely grateful to our esteemed security partners, the Nigerian Police Force, Nigerian Army, the DSS, and the Lagos State Government, whose joint efforts consistently improve our capacity to identify, discourage, and address security threats and incidents before they worsen,” the head of the NPA said.

“In the process of changing our strategic intent of becoming the maritime logistics hub for sustainable ports services in Africa from potential to actualities, the occasion demonstrated the agency’s dedication to ongoing progress,” he said.
