The Federal Inland Revenue Service has announced the opening of its recruitment portal for tax officer positions, stating that applications would commence by 12:00 am on November 2nd, 2024.
The FIRS made this disclosure in a notice on Friday via its official X handle.
The tax authority stated that it is looking to fill Officer I and Officer II positions in several places in Nigeria.
“Women, minorities, and persons with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply,” FIRS stated in its official recruitment notice.
The positions are available across eight states: Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, Imo, Ekiti, Lagos, and Oyo. However, successful candidates should note that they “must be prepared to work in any of FIRS’s business locations,” regardless of their initial posting preference.
Candidates must fulfill a number of important requirements in order to be eligible. According to the age requirement, candidates must “must be 27 years old or below by 31st December 2024.”
In order to apply for the program, one must possess a Bachelor’s Degree (or HND) with a First Class/Second Class Upper Division in a relevant field such as Accounting, Actuarial Science, Business Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Economics, Law, Mathematics, Statistics, and several other related fields.
The organisation added that “relevant master’s degrees and professional affiliations (e.g., ICAN, ACCA, ANAN, COREN, NSE, etc) will be an added advantage.”
There will be various stages of assessment in the selection process.
“Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for further assessments, which may include aptitude tests, interviews, and medical examinations,” the notice said.
The FIRS highlighted the importance of using official channels to submit applications, warning candidates to be cautious of fraudulent recruitment activities, and directing all applications to their official website: www.firs.gov.ng/careers.
The deadline for submissions is November 14th, 2024.
In order to be considered for a position, candidates are encouraged to submit only one application for their preferred location, as multiple applications are not allowed.
