The Chairman of the Local Government Pensioners Association of Nigeria, Ogun State, Benedict Ademoye, has stated that 564 local government pensioners have received gratuities from the state government.
The Punch reported that the support the local government pensioners received from Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration, according to Ademoye, wiped away their tears and decreased the rate at which the retirees die due to lack of money to attend to their medical needs, according to a statement made available to journalists on Thursday.
According to the LOGPAN chairman, 369 retired local government employees received gratuities after the governor recently approved an additional N1.9 billion in releases.
“It is good we place it on record that Gov. Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has been very supportive of the course of the local government pensioners. In the last year, 564 local government Pensioners have collected their gratuities in full.,” stated Ademoye.
“The last N1.9 billion payment of unpaid gratuities, which benefited 369 local government retirees, was the cherry on top.
“Pensioners with unpaid gratuities were able to receive funds for their medical needs. In the last year, no pensioner known to the association died because of lack of funds to settle medical expenses.”
