The Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund has committed to promoting a strong culture of safety across the country, particularly in workplaces.
This pledge was made by the Fund’s Managing Director, Mr. Oluwaseun Faleye, during a courtesy visit by the President of the Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria, Dr. Udezi Stephen, to the NSITF Corporate Headquarters in Abuja.
In a statement signed by NSITF Deputy General Manager, Corporate Affairs, Alex Mede, the Managing Director emphasized that the Fund and ISPON share a common vision of promoting a safety culture in Nigeria, especially in workplaces, and called for sustained collaboration between both organizations.
He expressed appreciation for the opportunity to engage with the Institute, urging ISPON to mobilize its members to register under the NSITF’s Employees’ Compensation Scheme and support its wider promotion.
Faleye expressed gratitude to the ISPON Board for the award, which he received on behalf of the NSITF, and pledged to uphold the title with a strong sense of responsibility.
He noted that the award was a testament to the collective efforts of the NSITF staff.
“It is important that we continue to collaborate, and continue to look for ways to deepen our collaboration further.
“We believe it’s very critical that we also undertake a sort of symbiotic relationship that allows ISPON to promote ECS within its network.
“So, we really look forward to ISPON encouraging its members and affiliated organisations to not only subscribe, but to actively promote Employee Compensation Scheme across board,” Faleye stated.
Dr. Stephen emphasized the importance of deepening collaboration between the two organizations, particularly in staff training, certification in safety, and walk-through audits.
He also commended Faleye for his exemplary leadership since assuming the role of Managing Director of the NSITF.
The ISPON team also used the occasion to confer the Safety Ambassador Award of the Institute on Faleye.
