The Nigerian Railway Corporation has warned passengers traveling by rail between Lagos and Ibadan not to believe false reports that it was selling tickets online for the route.

According to Vanguard, this was announced in a statement made by the Managing Director, NRC, on Saturday in Lagos.

Okhiria advised people to always purchase their train tickets at the appropriate stations.

He said: “The NRC has become aware of a website created by online criminals where they are urging the entire public to go to a made-up cyberspace to buy train tickets from Lagos to Ibadan online.

“However, NRC has not yet started selling tickets for trains between Lagos and Ibadan online; this may have been done by fraudsters hoping to defraud train passengers.”

“NRC is hereby advising Lagos to Ibadan train passengers to be wary of these fraudulent cyberspace criminals, by obtaining their train boarding tickets at railway stations,” he said.

He claimed that the NRC was working hard to quickly implement safe online ticketing for train services between Lagos and Warri and Ibadan and Itakpe.
