The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has announced the appointment of a new eight-man Senior Management Team to strengthen corporate governance and enhance operational efficiency

This follows the recent appointment of Bayo Ojulari as the Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPCL.

This was disclosed a statement signed by the Chief Corporate Communications Officer, NNPC Ltd, Olufemi Soneye, in Abuja on Friday.

According to the statement, the newly appointed Management Team will be led by the GCEO, Bashir Bayo Ojulari.

The statement read,” Following the appointment of the Group Chief Executive Officer and Board of Directors, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has announced the appointment of a new 8-man Senior Management Team on Friday.

“The team which will be headed by the GCEO, Mr Bashir Bayo Ojulari, has Roland Ewubare as Group Chief Operating Officer; Adedapo Segun as Group Chief Financial Officer; and Olalekan Ogunleye as Executive Vice President Gas, Power & New Energy.

“Other members of the team are: Udy Ntia as Executive Vice President Upstream; Mumuni Dagazau as Executive Vice President Downstream; Sophia Mbakwe as Executive Vice President Business Services; and Adesua Dozie, as Company Secretary & Chief Legal Officer.”

This leadership restructuring is part of NNPC’s strategy to enhance operational efficiency and drive growth in Nigeria’s energy sector.

All appointments are with immediate effect, according to the statement.

It was earlier reported that President Bola Tinubu had sacked the board of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company including its Group Chief Executive Officer, Mele Kyari and board chairman Pius Akinyelure.

The dismissal was announced by presidential spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, in a statement posted on X early Wednesday morning.

“President Tinubu removed all other board members appointed with Akinyelure and Kyari in November 2023,” Mr Onanuga stated.

President Tinubu tasked the new NNPC board with an immediate action plan: to conduct a strategic portfolio review of NNPC-operated and Joint Venture Assets, ensuring alignment with value maximization objectives.
