The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, on Thursday, increased the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit at its filling stations in Abuja to N194 per litre from N179 per litre.
Leadership reported that, in Lagos, NNPC filling stations visited displayed N184 per litre for PMS.
This development is coming after weeks of petrol scarcity resurfacing across the country, characterized by long queues at many filling stations.
At NNPC filling stations across Abuja metropolitan, it was observed that their price boards now reflect N194 per litre.
So far, the Nigerian Midstream Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, the agency responsible for regulating activities in the midstream and downstream sectors, have kept mute over the development.
Filling stations in Lagos, Abuja, Ogun, on Thursday, were characterized by long queues as the independent marketers were seen selling the product over N250 per litre.
With these developments it appears the federal government may have commenced gradual removal of the petrol subsidy.
