NNPCL eyes 1.9mbd oil output in 2025 – Ojulari

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited is on track to boost crude oil production to 1.9 million barrels per day by the end of 2025, according to Group Chief Executive Officer Bashir Bayo Ojulari.

The ambitious target was announced during the inauguration of the NNPC Ltd Board at the State House in Abuja on Thursday, as reported by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy.

Ojulari revealed that NNPC Ltd has already increased production from 1.5 million bpd to 1.7 million bpd over the past two months, following strategic engagements with industry stakeholders to enhance operations and business relationships.

“We are on course to achieve 1.9 million barrels per day by year-end,” Ojulari stated, underscoring the company’s progress.

In addition to production gains, Ojulari highlighted ongoing efforts to optimize NNPC Ltd’s operations, including the turnaround maintenance of its refineries, as part of a broader strategy to strengthen the company’s performance.

“We have had several meetings, and we have set a direction with the mandate that you have given us. We have commenced the journey with bi-weekly meetings with stakeholders,” he said.

He assured the government that NNPC Ltd would operate strictly as a commercial enterprise.

For his part, the Minister of State for Petroleum, Heineken Lokpobiri, affirmed to the President that the NNPC Ltd team is fully capable of delivering on its mandate.

In his remarks, the President said he had carefully selected the board members to ensure quality leadership.

He urged the new NNPC board to build on the gains of the ongoing economic reforms, which he noted have drawn commendation for enhancing the resilience and competitiveness of the Nigerian economy.
