The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority has sealed off four filling stations and two gas stations in Akwa Ibom State due to regulatory violations.
The Coordinator of NMDPRA in Eket, Mr. Ikechukwu Eseka, revealed this during a routine inspection in Uyo on Friday. He stated that the closures were a result of non-renewal of licenses and poor maintenance practices.
“The affected stations in Uyo were sealed for failing to renew their licenses and for poor housekeeping,” Mr. Eseka explained.
He also issued a stern warning to fuel marketers, advising them to avoid malpractices such as under-dispensing, hoarding, or diverting petroleum products. Mr. Eseka noted that the NMDPRA will continue to conduct regular surveillance to ensure compliance with industry standards.
