The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority has said it is not carrying out any recruitment at the moment.
In a statement on Monday, the Director of Public Affairs, George Ene-Ita, said the agency is not employing staff in any capacity.
The authority warned the public to beware of fake recruitment groups behind the fraudulent claims.
“The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) is compelled to publish this disclaimer alerting the public to the activities of some unscrupulous persons who are exploiting young, economically vulnerable and unsuspecting Nigerians perhaps into parting with huge sums of money for purported employment opportunities into the Authority,” the statement reads.
The agency said the fraudsters operate by sending fake employment letters, making false promises, and advertising jobs that do not exist.
“We wish to use this opportunity to state categorically that the NMDPRA is NOT conducting any recruitment exercise currently. Neither is the Agency undertaking any kind of employment into its services at any level.
“For the avoidance of doubt, any future recruitment exercise would be undertaken in accordance with extant rules guiding such exercises in the Nigerian Public Service.
“In this regard therefore, we would like to advise the public and all Nigerians to ignore these spurious claims by unscrupulous people whose only objective is to defraud Nigerians and cast aspersion on the Authority,” the agency said.
NMDPRA also urged the public to rely on its official website and verified social media pages for accurate and current information about its activities.
