The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Agency has issued Falcon Corporation Limited a 25-year Gas Distribution Licence.
A statement from the firm’s Managing Director, Prof. Joe Ezigbo, noted that the licence grants Falcon Corporation exclusive rights to gas distribution within the Ikorodu Industrial Zone.
Ezigbo further stated that the GDL is a key regulatory approval, bolstering Falcon Corporation’s position in the domestic gas market.
“This milestone enables us to expand our gas distribution operations, ensuring a more sustainable and efficient supply of natural gas to industries, businesses, and residential consumers,” he stated.
According to him, the gas distribution licence aligns with Section 148 of the Petroleum Industry Act 2021, which mandates the NMDPRA to issue licences to qualified individuals and organisations. He stated that this move is part of the government’s efforts to implement the PIA and the Gas Distribution Regulations of 2023.
“The initiative is also expected to open up opportunities across several key sectors, including energy-intensive industries, power generation, clean cooking initiative, gas reticulation, compressed natural gas mobility, energy parks, and special economic zones,” he said.
Ezigbo reiterated that natural gas is crucial for driving industrialisation, creating employment opportunities, and generating revenue for sustainable national development.
He stated that a thriving domestic gas market is essential for achieving the government’s goals under the Decade of Gas Initiative.
“Falcon Corporation Limited GDL is expected to promote accessibility and availability of gas, encourage infrastructure development, crash the cost of production, aid the influx of industries to Ikorodu industrial Zone, and enhance energy security for all Nigerians.
