The President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Joe Ajaero, was reportedly detained by operatives of the Department of State Services on Monday morning at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
According to reports from The PUNCH, Ajaero was en route to the United Kingdom for an official engagement when the arrest occurred.
He was scheduled to attend the Trade Union Congress conference in London, which begins today.
This arrest follows closely on the heels of his recent summons by the Nigerian Police. Ajaero had been called in for questioning over allegations including terrorism financing, cybercrime, and criminal conspiracy, all of which he denied.
