The compressed natural gas facility in Oron, Akwa Ibom state, has been officially opened, according to Nipco Gas Limited.

According to The Times, on September 21, the business announced this on its official LinkedIn profile.

A CNG Mother plant was inaugurated by NIPCO Gas in Oron, Akwa Ibom State.

The facility would support vehicle CNG demand for Daughter-Booster Stations in the South-South region of Nigeria, according to the business.

Additionally, NIPCO Gas announced that in collaboration with NNPC Limited, it is growing the number of CNG Stations across Nigeria.

NIPCO Gas Limited currently expertly manages a network of 14 operating Compressed Natural Gas stations that are thoughtfully dispersed throughout Nigeria.

Over 7,000 vehicles have been seamlessly converted to run on CNG by this team.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited announced on August 3, 2023 that it had partnered strategically with NIPCO Gas Limited to make it easier to open Compressed Natural Gas stations across the country.

NNPCL states that the main goal of the partnership is to increase the current CNG infrastructure, ensuring wider access to CNG and hastening the use of this affordable and eco-friendly fuel for buses, vehicles, and Keke Napeps.

According to NNPCL, the move away from petrol will result in a significant decrease in transportation costs, promoting sustainable growth within the national economy.

Nipco Gas Limited announced that it will continue to be fully committed to carrying out the responsibilities entrusted to the partnership as the removal of fuel subsidies and the choice to use CNG as an alternative fuel will strengthen the nation’s economy shortly after signing a CNG agreement with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited.

35 state-of-the-art CNG stations in total is anticipated to be made possible by the partnership.

The construction of three flagship Mother stations, with a combined daily capacity of over 200,000 cars, will significantly reduce transportation and fuel expenditures for the Nigerian populace.

It should be noted that the first phase will enable the construction of 21 CNG stations to assist intra-city travel, which are scheduled to be operational by Q1 2024.

By the end of 2024, the second phase will be operational and will enable 35 CNG stations to improve intercity transportation.

The NNPC Retail company will install 56 more CNG stations across the country.

Tinubu launched the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative in August 2023. The goal of this bold endeavour is to completely restructure the country’s transportation industry.

Its main goals are to facilitate the conversion of an amazing 55,000 existing petrol-dependent vehicles to CNG and to introduce over 11,500 new vehicles that are prepared to run on compressed natural gas.

The project also places a lot of attention on encouraging local assembly activities, which significantly increases the number of job possibilities that are created on a large scale.
