NIMC directs public to resolve NIN-SIM issues with Telcos

The National Identity Management Commission has instructed the public to address all NIN-SIM linkage and verification issues through their respective mobile network providers.

The directive follows the successful migration of all telecommunications operators in Nigeria to NIMC’s upgraded identity verification platform, NINAuth.

In a statement signed by its Head of Corporate Communications, Dr. Kayode Adegoke, NIMC described the full adoption of NINAuth by telecom operators as a significant advancement in the verification of National Identification Numbers nationwide.

“The Commission wishes to assure the general public that the Verification and Authentication Service platforms are functional and accessible to all.

“However, any issue being experienced by NIN Holders on New SIM registration, SIM swap, SIM migration, Welcome back SIM, and others should be directed to the Telcos for immediate resolution,” NIMC stated.

According to NIMC, the new platform enhances the security and efficiency of identity verification, while also granting NIN holders greater control over their personal data.

“The NINAuth platform enhances data protection, gives control of personal data to the owners, offers seamless verification, and provides convenient sign-on access to services,” the Commission said.

NIMC stated that the launch of the NINAuth platform is part of its broader effort to strengthen Nigeria’s digital identity ecosystem.

The move also aims to empower Nigerians with greater control over their data, while enhancing the speed and security of identity verification across both public and private sectors.

The Commission further emphasized that its Verification and Authentication Service platforms remain fully operational and accessible, allowing individuals and organizations to continue conducting lawful identity checks.
