The National Identity Management Commission’s acting director general and CEO, Abisoye Coker-Odusote, promised a smooth registration process for the National Identification Number both at home and abroad.
The Punch reported that NIN registration is still free for all eligible individuals, according to a statement released on Sunday in Abuja by Coker-Odusote, who also reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to guaranteeing accessibility for all Nigerians in accordance with international best practices.
A complete national identity system will streamline government functions and improve service delivery, according to the new NIMC head.
“A unified identity system ensures that citizens receive the services they are entitled to in a more efficient manner,” Coker-Odusote was quoted as saying in the announcement.
“Under my leadership, NIMC will improve the management and oversight of all issues pertaining to national identification, which includes services like NIN enrollment.”
