Dr. Bashir Jamoh on Monday, handed over the administration to Chudi Offodile, Executive Director of Finance and Administration at Nigeria Maritime Safety Agency as a change of guard took place there.
This follows the expiry of Jamoh’s term on 10 March 2024, according to Vanguard.
Jamoh thanked the Federal Government for allowing him to assume his post as Director General of NIMASA during a handover ceremony at NIMISA Towers in Victoria Island and called upon the Agency’s next leadership to build on what was accomplished over the last four years.
He said “I wish to express gratitude to Almighty Allah and the Federal Government for the privilege given me to serve Nigeria in this capacity, as I count myself a privileged Nigerian to have occupied this position, while also contributing my quota to the Nigerian maritime sector.
“Let me also use this opportunity to assure the staff of the Agency that wherever I am, I will still remain a part of this family; a place I have spent the active 30 years of my life.”
Jamoh went on to thank the staff of the Agency for their cooperation and professionalism in assisting the Agency in fulfilling its mandate. He encouraged them to continue their good work and engage with the Agency’s new management.
On the other hand, Offodile thanked Jamoh for bringing his wealth of experience to the sector and stated that the expertise of the outgoing DG would continue to be needed in the sector. He said, “Four years ago when I took up my post as Executive Director, Finance and Administration, I would like to thank the outgoing Director General for his guidance.”
The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency is the apex regulatory and promotional maritime agency. The Agency was created from the merger of the National Maritime Authority and Joint Maritime Labour Industrial Council (former parastatals of the Federal Ministry of Transport) on the 1st August 2006.
