Nigeria’s non-oil exports have risen to $1.791 billion in the first quarter of 2025, marking a 24.75 per cent increase from the $1.436 billion recorded in the same period last year, according to the Nigerian Export Promotion Council.
The Executive Director of NEPC, Nonye Ayeni, disclosed this on Monday during a press briefing in Abuja.
She attributed the surge to intensified efforts and strategic initiatives aimed at boosting the non-oil export sector.
Ayeni noted that the agency recorded its highest annual export value in its 49-year history last year. “In 2024, the NEPC reported a year-on-year growth of 20.77 per cent, with non-oil exports rising from $4.517 billion in 2023 to $5.456 billion,” she said.
She emphasized that the latest quarterly figures reflect the sustained momentum in diversifying Nigeria’s export base beyond crude oil.
