Nigerian Stock Exchange begins 2024 on positive note

The Nigerian Stock Exchange started on a positive note as the All-Share Index broke beyond the 75,000 barrier.

The closing value of the All-Share Index was 75,990.88 points, an increase of 1,217.11 points or 1.63%.

The market capitalization closed at N41.583 trillion on the first trading day of the year, with equities up N663 billion. Blue-chip companies including AIRTELAFRI, BUACEMENT, and ZENITHBANK, which gained 5.99%, 5.15%, and 0.91%, respectively, propelled market gains.

The trading volume increased from 368.629 million units in the previous trading session to 515.807 million units. There was a value degradation from the prior N12.82 billion to N5.57 billion.
