Nigeria to become W'Africa's energy hub - Vertex

The Chief Commercial Officer of the Vertex group, Shitij Taneja, has revealed that Nigeria would rank among the top West African technological centers in five years.

Taneja recently made this assertion in a speech at the Lagos, Nigeria, 2023 IoT West Africa conference & exhibition as he stated that other businesses have already begun investing in Nigeria.

He also emphasized that more manufacturing companies joining Vertex Group would mean more prospects for employment and training facilities for young people.

As a strategy for enhancing Nigeria’s electricity supply, he suggested using renewable energy sources and going digital with energy use.

The COO of Vertex Group said that once energy was digitalized, it could be tracked to know what was happening and where it was happening as this may help identify any energy leaks.

“We see a lot of startups and investors investing in Nigeria’s technology as startups,” he said, “and what we are trying to achieve is to establish West Africa as the centre for digital energy.

“India is recognized as a center for technology, hence we are bringing Indian businesses to Nigeria to advance the technology.”

He concluded by saying that Nigeria already has the capacity, and as more individuals pursue careers in information technology, “we’re trying to bring the technology solutions that India has there.”
