The President’s nominee for the Central Bank of Nigeria’s governorship seat, Dr. Olayemi Cardoso. stated that country needs a stable exchange rate in order for Nigeria to advance.
Nairametrics revealed that he stated it while responding to inquiries from the Senate during his screening for potential confirmation as the new CBN Governor.
Dr. Olayemi Cardoso and the other four candidates are now being reviewed by the Senate for prospective confirmation as the Central Bank of Nigeria’s future Governor and Deputy Governor, respectively.
The exchange rate between the naira and the dollar was quoted as high as N1,006/$1 on Monday, September 26th on P2P platforms where forex is sold using stablecoins from the cryptocurrency bitcoin.
The exchange rate settled at N773/$1on the official I&E Window, also known by the abbreviation NIFEX.
