The Nigerian Communication Satellite Limited has inked a partnership deal with Dimension Data, a leading IT solutions provider.
This is a bold step to improve its services by upgrading its technology to cutting-edge standards.
This was disclosed by the company in a press release on Monday, according to The PUNCH.
In the statement, the Managing Director of NIGCOMSAT Limited Mrs Jane Egerton-Idehen stated that the upgrades will allow the organization to offer better services to its clients.
“We have upgraded our facility to cutting-edge technology, and we are confident that we can compete favourably in the global satellite market,” she said.
NIGCOMSAT will supply Dimension Data with internet services on its NigComSat-1R network platform for an initial duration of one year under the cooperation agreement, which was signed in Lagos on Friday.
The transaction is part of the company’s strategy to establish itself as a key participant in the satellite sector.
Egerton-Idehen is optimistic about the collaboration, adding that NIGCOMSAT had completed a successful trial program with Dimension Data and had signed a Master Service Agreement.
“We are glad that Dimension Data is happy with the results of our pilot, and we are committed to ensuring that our service delivery is excellent, our infrastructure reliable, and our technology continuous,” she said.
The Country Director of Dimension Data, Mr Olugbenga Olabiyi also commented on the collaboration, adding that his company was dedicated to developing innovative and tailored IT solutions for its clients.
“We are committed to delivering services that are value-driven, and we believe that our partnership with NIGCOMSAT will help us achieve this goal,” he said.
The upgrade and partnership are part of the Nigerian government’s efforts to foster digital transformation and economic inclusivity. Dr. Bosun Tijani, Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, has led projects to increase connectivity and promote digital inclusiveness.
With updated technology and a cooperation with Dimension Data, NIGCOMSAT is well-positioned to contribute significantly to the government’s digital economy aspirations.
Egerton-Idehen noted, “We are not late to the market, and we are committed to taking our rightful position in the global satellite industry.”
