In celebration of 50 years of Hip-Hop music, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is bringing popular rappers into the game with its Season 5 update, set to launch on August 2.

Activision has confirmed that iconic artists Snoop Dogg and Nicki Minaj will join the action as playable operators, taking the excitement to a whole new level in the game and its battle royale counterpart, Warzone 2.0.

The upcoming update doesn’t stop there. It’s jam-packed with other major additions, including three thrilling multiplayer maps and a series of ‘War Track’ packs, featuring hip-hop music that players can enjoy in-game.

Additionally, a third operator will make a mysterious entrance, teasing gamers with a silhouette. However, the official blog post reveals that it’s none other than 21 Savage.

The pricing details for these exciting collaborations are yet to be confirmed but are expected to be available as separate bundles, as seen with previous collaborations in the game.

Nicki Minaj’s appearance in Call of Duty was foreshadowed in a promo video last year, and her look in the game is inspired by her latest alter ego, ‘Red Ruby Da Sleeze,’ coinciding with the release of the Barbie movie.

Her assault rifle stands out with its bright pink color, promising a striking visual in the game.

On the other hand, this will mark Snoop Dogg’s third in-game appearance, previously taking the stage as a multiplayer announcer in Call of Duty: Ghosts and making appearances in Call of Duty: Vanguard and Mobile.

Snoop Dogg’s rifle for this collaboration is a silenced, blue-tinted one, decorated with gold engravings that uniquely symbolize a marijuana leaf.

Call of Duty is renowned for its innovative collaborations, welcoming iconic characters like Homelander, Starlight, and Black Noir from The Boys series, each with its own brutal finishers.

The game has also witnessed exciting crossovers with the likes of Lionel Messi, Attack on Titan anime outfits, and even the imposing presence of Godzilla in a limited-time mode last year.

With more exciting partnerships in the pipeline, players can anticipate an ever-expanding roster of outlandish operators, similar to what Fortnite has achieved with its innovative crossovers.

As the curtain rises on Season 5, players can also explore three new multiplayer maps, offering diverse landscapes like Livestock, an offshore Petrov Oil Rig, and a bustling Harbor brimming with fish markets and shipping areas.

The update introduces engaging new game modes, such as Havoc, featuring a classic arena shooter format but with unpredictable modifiers to intensify the gameplay.

From altered jump heights to explosive landings, the action promises to be frenetic and unforgettable.

Capture-the-flag modes and Gunfight Variants add more adrenaline-pumping action, catering to players seeking intense close-quarters matchups.

With the Season 5 event set to go live on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 embraces the spirit of Hip-Hop and delivers an unforgettable gaming experience, igniting excitement among players worldwide.
