The All-Share Index closed at 70,581.76 points, marking the first time in history that it has crossed the 70,000 barrier, as NGX extended its bullish run during a highly good trading day.
The Times reported that the market capitalization increased by N739 billion to settle at N38.778 trillion, generating a 1.94% gain for the equity market.
The market has gained N1.357 trillion over the previous three days, indicating exceptionally good activity during that time.
The gains made by large stocks this week, including Northern Nigeria Flour Mills, First Bank, UBA, and Airtel Africa, have contributed to the bullish rise.
Compared to yesterday’s 8.027 trades, the market saw 7,444 deals today. The trading volume did, however, increase by 24.5% as 601.732 million units were traded today, valued at N11.02 billion, an 82.45% increase over yesterday’s N6.04 billion.
UBA (+0.48%) had the highest trading volume with 163.56 million units, followed by FBNH (+9.78%) with 94.65 million shares. With 45.75 million shares, GTCO (+1.72%) secured the third position, ahead of Accesscorp (+4.37%) with 36.69 million shares and Univinsure (+8.33%) with 34.72 million shares.
In terms of value, UBA led the pack with N3.47 billion, followed by FBNH with N1.84 billion, GTCO with N1.60 billion, AirtelAfri with N694.06 million, and Accesscorp with N641.99 million.
Trading was reasonably positive for stocks worth more than $1 trillion. Similar to yesterday, Airtel saw the biggest price increase of +10.00%, followed by GTCO (+1.72%) and Zenith Bank(+3.77%). However, there were no price adjustments from yesterday for MTNN, SEPLAT, DANGECM, BUA Foods, and BUA Cement.
Trading was very successful for Tier-1 banks, as they all saw increases in share prices. +9.78% for FBNH, +0.48% for UBA, +1.72% for GTCO, +4.37% for Accesscorp, and +3.77% for Zenith Bank
