Netflix encountered a brief service interruption Wednesday evening coinciding with the launch of the fifth and final season of”Stranger Things.”
The outage was confirmed by a spike in user reports on DownDetector.com just after 9 p.m. Eastern and by social media complaints from subscribers.
The first wave of issues appeared on DownDetector around 7:40 p.m.Eastern, with user reports peaking at nearly 16,000 just as “Stranger Things” was set to go live at 8 p.m.
Netflix said it planned to release the fifth season in batches, with the first four episodes launching Wednesday, three more on December 25th, and the finale on December 31st.
The company could not be reached for comment.
