Netflix has raised its subscription prices in Nigeria for the third time in under a year, marking the first increase in 2025.
According to updates on the company’s website, the Premium plan now costs ₦8,500 per month, up from the previous ₦7,000.
The price hike comes amid ongoing inflation and economic pressures, which may be influencing the streaming giant’s pricing strategy in the region.
The Standard plan jumped to ₦6,500 from ₦5,500.
The Basic plan rose to ₦4,000 from ₦3,500, and the Mobile plan is for ₦2,500, up from ₦2,200.
This follows two earlier price hikes by Netflix in April and July 2024.
Nigeria is currently dealing with rising living costs, a weakening naira, and record-high inflation.
These economic challenges have been worsened by recent tariff hikes across key sectors.
Telecom providers have increased their rates by up to 50%, citing higher operational expenses driven by inflation, foreign exchange instability, and energy costs.
In the pay-TV sector, MultiChoice, the parent company of DStv and GOtv, raised its subscription fees effective March 1, 2025.
Netflix is yet to issue any statement addressing the recent subscription price hike in Nigeria.
