Netflix on Wednesday, increased the cost of certain of its streaming plans in the US, the UK, and France.
Overcoming the 6 million median predictions of Wall Street experts LSEG surveyed, the company added roughly 9 million new subscribers globally.
Netflix attributed the gains to its campaign against password sharing and a consistent stream of new shows, including the international hit “One Piece.”
The premium ad-free plan’s price in the United States was increased by $3 per month to $22.99. The basic one-stream package went up by $2 a month.
In the UK, Netflix raised the cost of the basic plan by 1 pound to 7.99 pounds. The basic increased by 2 euros to 10.99 euros in France.
Netflix and other media corporations have been battling Hollywood’s labour unrest. Actors are still on strike even though actors in films and on television have approved a new contract.
Even with the strikes, according to Netflix, it maintained its lead in viewership. According to the firm, which cited Nielsen data, Netflix programming accounted for 8% of television screen time, coming in second only to YouTube.
