The Director General of the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association, Mr. Adewale-Smatt Oyerinde has stated that NECA’s ICT Academy is ready to train 35 trainees in Information and Computer Technology.
Oyerinde disclosed this during the induction ceremony held recently in Lagos, according to The Punch.
He emphasized the necessity for youth empowerment programs to address the labour supply and demand and highlighted youth unemployment as a serious concern.
He stated that in response to those challenges, NECA, in collaboration with the Industrial Training Fund and various participating organisations had established the NECA ICT Academy.
The NECA boss noted that since the academy’s founding, some 200 young people have benefited from free, in-depth ICT training in subjects including digital marketing, graphic design, and soft skills like communication and work ethics.
This programme aims to equip young Nigerians with the critical competencies needed for self-employment and wealth creation, while also providing globally recognized certifications in computer and internet proficiency,” he stated.
He urged the new trainees to take advantage of this chance to improve their employability and support economic growth.
Oyerinde further said that the academy would train thirty-five more young people, offering them a stipend, lunch, and free tuition.
