The Niger Delta Development Commission has stated that it will work with the Oil and Gas Free Trade Zone Authority to create industrial parks in the Niger Delta region.
The Punch reported that the NDDC’s managing director, Samuel Ogbuku, reportedly made this statement while speaking to a team from OGFTZA, led by Senator Tijani Kaura, on a courtesy visit to the commission’s Port Harcourt headquarters.
When describing the goal of the partnership, Ogbuku pointed out that industrial parks had a crucial place in the value chain for sustainable development.
He stated, “Partnering to build an oil and gas Free Trade Zone Park will achieve a lot. It will lower the cost of production in the sectors and businesses that we want to draw to the Niger Delta. Additionally, it will support entrepreneurship.”
The NDDC and the OGFTZA, both of which are in important positions to advance sustainable development in the Niger Delta region, must collaborate, according to the Managing Director of the OGFTZA, Senator Kaura,
“For the NDDC and OGFTZA, it will be a win-win situation since it will guarantee wealth generation, involve the youth, and lessen unrest in the Niger Delta region,” he said.
