The Niger Delta Development Commission and KPMG, a major worldwide business management consulting firm, have a contract in place for KPMG to advise the commission on international best practices in internal procedures and corporate governance culture.
Speaking at the signing ceremony on Wednesday at the NDDC headquarters in Port Harcourt, the Managing Director, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, said working with KPMG will assist the commission’s procedures in reaching international standards.
He declared, “Today is a historic occasion. Due to the NDDC’s historical failure, we opted to embrace international best practices for our corporate governance culture and internal procedures. As a result, we chose to work with KPMG to provide expert consulting services on our corporate governance culture and internal processes.
We are prepared for internal regulation. The NDDC’s credibility will increase as a result of the signing of this deal with KPMG, which will also benefit the Niger Delta’s long-term development.
According to Ogbuku, the goal was to fortify the NDDC as an organization by putting in place internal rules that would outlive the existing management.
The Lead Partner and Head of Governance Processes at KPMG, Mr. Tolu Odukale, praised the NDDC leadership for working with KPMG to enhance the Niger Delta. He mentioned how the connection would increase the trust of investors and development partners.
He assured them that KPMG will contribute its knowledge and expertise to strengthen NDDC’s internal operations and guarantee accountability and transparency.
The NDDC’s Executive Director of Finance and Administration, Major General Charles Airhiavbere (rted), said in his remarks that using KPMG’s services will improve the commission’s service delivery and increase stakeholder satisfaction.
