The newly elected President of the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers, Babatunde Oguntade, says he will increase professionalism in the industry as part of his eight-point plan during his tenure.
The Punch reported that the 22nd president of the NCRIB declared during his introductory speech that he would uphold the traditions set by his forerunners.
“The hallmark of all professions is the continuous acquisition of knowledge and, in fact, openness to new and evolving knowledge. This statement is no longer news. The insurance broking industry is undoubtedly not an exception in this respect,” stated Oguntade.
“During this term, members would have access to training both domestically and abroad, and relationships with established institutions in Nigeria and abroad would be strengthened. Because we are the primary experts in the insurance value chain, the Council would also forge new partnerships during this term that would benefit the insurance broking group.
“During my term, the registered insurance broker would be a competent and knowledgeable encyclopaedia. This regime would continue the practise of brokers using professional seals to ward off quacks in our field and improve the Council’s corporate image as started by the previous leadership.”
He stated that other initiatives for his administration would centre on business visibility maintenance, international cooperation, mentoring, strategic government and institutional linkages, and financial solvency.
