Nigeria’s national grid has experienced another collapse, leading to widespread blackouts just 24 hours after service was restored.
Various distribution companies confirmed the grid failure occurred around 9 a.m. on Tuesday.
According to DisCos, efforts to restore power are currently underway, but the recurring nature of these outages has heightened frustration among citizens and businesses already grappling with inconsistent electricity supply.
In an address to its customers, Ikeja DisCo noted the following, “Please be informed that we experienced another system outage today 15/10/24 @ 09:17hrs affecting supply within our network.
“Restoration of supply is ongoing in collaboration with our critical stakeholders. Kindly bear with us.”
Also, Eko DisCo said:
“Dear Valued Customer,

“We are currently working with our partners as we hope for speedy restoration of the grid. We will keep you updated as soon as the power supply is restored. Kindly bear with us.”
It was earlier reported that Nigeria has once again plunged into a nationwide blackout following the collapse of its national grid system.
This incident marks the sixth grid collapse in 2024, raising concerns over the reliability of the country’s power infrastructure.
Nigeria’s electricity sector remains challenged by a fragile national grid, resulting in frequent nationwide blackouts.
As of October 2024, the grid has collapsed seven times this year, highlighting ongoing issues in the country’s power infrastructure.
