Naira trades at ₦1,321/$ in official FX market

The naira is currently exchanging at approximately ₦1,321.37 to the United States dollar based on the latest available official market figures, while parallel-market quotations place the dollar between ₦1,385 and ₦1,410, depending on the source consulted and the side of the transaction involved.

The Central Bank of Nigeria’s NFEM table, however, lists September 4 as its most recent dated trading entry, showing an official rate of ₦1,321.2160 per dollar. The September 9 live figure should therefore be regarded as the latest available rate rather than a confirmed CBN trading close for that particular day.

At the official rate of ₦1,321.37, $100 translates to roughly ₦132,137, while $1,000 comes to about ₦1,321,370.

Parallel-market quotations differ across the various available trackers. NairaToday puts the buying rate at ₦1,385 and the selling rate at ₦1,410 per dollar, whereas AbokiForex lists a buying rate of ₦1,385 and a selling rate of ₦1,395.

This implies that someone selling $100 could receive approximately ₦138,500 based on NairaToday’s buying quote, while buying $100 could cost about ₦141,000 at its selling quote. Using AbokiForex’s selling quote instead, the same $100 would cost roughly ₦139,500. Actual rates may differ depending on the dealer, location and size of the transaction.

Comparing the official rate of ₦1,321.37 with NairaToday’s parallel-market selling quote of ₦1,410, the gap between the two comes to approximately ₦88.63 per dollar.
