The naira opened the new trading week at differing rates against the United States dollar across the official foreign exchange market and the parallel market.
The latest available data from the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market placed the naira at about N1,331.20 per dollar, based on the most recent confirmed official-market rate from Friday, September 18.
This figure was marginally stronger than the previous rate of N1,331.28 per dollar.

In the parallel market, the dollar was quoted at about N1,395 on Monday, according to market reports.
This puts the gap between the latest NFEM rate of N1,331.20 and the parallel-market rate at roughly N63.80 per dollar.
The parallel-market rate has remained above the official rate in recent sessions, although the size of the premium has fluctuated in line with changing dollar supply and demand conditions.
Recent data also show that the naira has traded within a relatively narrow range in the official market.
Meanwhile, Nigeria’s external reserves stood at $54.61 billion as of September 14, according to CBN data cited by BusinessDay, representing an 18-year high and a 30.52 per cent increase from the corresponding period of 2025.
For Nigerians buying or selling dollars, actual rates may differ depending on the bank, Bureau de Change operator, transaction size and location, while parallel-market quotations remain indicative and subject to change throughout the day.
As of September 21, 2026, the latest available rates stand at around N1,331.20 per dollar in the NFEM and N1,395 per dollar in the parallel market, while the live USD/NGN benchmark hovers around N1,330.65 per dollar.
