Customers of one of the leading African banks, Guaranty Trust Bank, have been lamenting on social media after series of transfer failures and debit errors.
AMBusiness reports that many of the bank’s customers expressed their frustration by flooding Twitter with many complaints tagged to the official Twitter page of GTB.
This publication recalls that the Supreme Court made a ruling order to stop the Central Bank of Nigeria from enforcing the February 10 rescheduled deadline for phasing out the note.
This is owing to the low circulation of the new Naira note and the hardship faced by Nigerians to get cash during this period.
Now, there is scarcity of both old and new naira notes and Nigerians have resorted to digital transactions. This may have fired up the frustration of these customers.
Most of the complaints boiled down to transfer failures. When a customer makes transfers, the customer gets a debit alert, meanwhile, the receiver will not get the money.
This has been lingering for weeks according to some of the comments made on Twitter.
This spurred reactions from customers experiencing similar difficulties with the bank transfers.
@ismahee29082197 tweeted, “I made a transfer to someone on the 11th of this month which I was debited but it wasn’t received at the other end.”
Replying to this tweet, @luiz_peetha said, “Mine was on December 23rd…..hasn’t been resolved yet.”
@femelexy said, “I bought airtime twice from my bank, na debit I get I no see airtime @gtbank_help @gtbank if my money no come back am closing the account I don’t have time for rubbish.”
Meanwhile, @Steve_zubi said “Same thing happened to me, but they reversed the transaction four days later.”
@eduardovhicky admonished, “Call them on the phone bro.. it will be sorted out, hence it’s transfer. It happened to me last year”
According @Freedom_For_Nig, “I did a transaction since 31st of January via POS. I was debited but didn’t receive cash. I have filled the error dispense form in the banking hall and till date, money is still not received. Kindly brace up for a legal action because this is not the first time it’s happening.”
@tjclassix lamented, “Two of my customers using GTB sent money to me but It hasn’t reflected in my account till now and they have both been debited.”
As of the time of filing this report, the bank is yet to confirm or respond to the complaints of its customers on the reason for the transfer failures.
