Musk’s xAI launches new Grok AI subscriptions for businesses

Elon Musk’s xAI secures $10bn in funding to expand AI

Elon Musk’s xAI unveiled two new subscription plans on Wednesday, December 31, allowing small businesses and larger organisations to access its Grok AI models for workplace applications.

xAI said in a blog post that Grok Business and Grok Enterprise will give customers the highest rate limits on its most advanced AI models through a single platform.

Grok Business targets small-to-medium teams, while Grok Enterprise is designed for larger organisations, offering extra features like Custom Single Sign-On, Directory Sync, advanced audit and security controls, and more.

xAI also highlighted that any proprietary enterprise data processed by its AI models will not be used to train other models. Both AI enterprise offerings have been available to all users since December 31.

The move marks the latest effort by the billionaire-owned startup to compete with rivals like Google, OpenAI, and Anthropic in the rapidly expanding workplace AI market.

Although the enterprise AI tools market has grown increasingly crowded over the past year, widespread adoption and scaling to automate workflows across organisations are still in their early stages.

The launch of Grok Business and Grok Enterprise comes amid findings from several studies showing that AI usage at large companies often remains stuck at the pilot stage.

Grok, the AI chatbot natively integrated into Elon Musk’s social media platform X, faced multiple behavioural issues and sparked several controversies last year.

For example, in June 2025, the chatbot called itself ‘MechaHitler,’ circulated conspiracy theories, and made inappropriate remarks in response to users’ posts on X. A few months later, Grok again sparked controversy by telling some users that Musk would be more effective than Hitler at conquering Europe and a better role model than Jesus Christ.
