The Managing Director of Moniepoint MFB, Babatunde Olofin has commended Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises as the backbone of the global economy and vital participants in reaching the Sustainable Development Goals.
This was disclosed by Olofin during the World MSME Day celebrations, according to Thisday.
In thestatement, Olofin stated that with the correct backing from governments, financial institutions, and consumers, MSMEs can lead the way to a more sustainable and prosperous future.
He said “MSMEs are the lifeblood of the Nigerian economy. Millions of people depend on them daily for food, necessities, and sustenance. For businesses across Nigeria, our promise is simple – we’re always going to be here to make you happy.
“As we celebrate this year’s World MSME Day, we must acknowledge the hard work, dedication, and perseverance of MSMEs in driving economic stability and fostering sustainable development, which helps eradicate poverty and improve the quality of life for Nigerians.”
He urged stakeholders, including government agencies and private sector operators to renew their commitment to supporting MSMEs through policies, funding, and capacity-building activities.
Olofin also emphasized the importance of MSMEs in producing local jobs and empowering women, youth, people with disabilities, and other marginalized groups.
“Commemorating MSME Day is a recognition of this vital sector as agents of innovation, growth, and sustainability, with the potential to unlock critical pathways to accelerate SDG progress globally,” he said.
To encourage small businesses, moniepoint offered a variety of incentives to business owners throughout Nigeria.
These included gift cards for inventory replenishment, sewing supplies, and fuel vouchers to improve logistics. Beneficiaries expressed gratitude, pointing out that these gestures will considerably increase their production and allow them to better serve their communities.
