Moniepoint hit ₦412tn transactions in 2025

Suspect arraigned for allegedly stealing N1.1bn from Moniepoint

Moniepoint Microfinance Bank reported processing transactions totaling ₦412 trillion and disbursing more than ₦1 trillion in loans in 2025.

The figures were shared by Moniepoint Inc., the bank’s parent company, in its 2025 Year in Review report released Thursday.

According to the company, the loans were primarily directed at small and medium-sized enterprises, including provision stores, supermarkets, and building materials traders.

Moniepoint’s data underscore the role of Nigerian fintechs in supporting the informal economy with credit. Similarly, FairMoney MFB recently revealed that it disbursed over ₦150 billion in loans to small businesses in 2025.

Moniepoint also noted that its microfinance bank handles a substantial portion of Nigeria’s in-person payment transactions.

The data reflects strong growth in transaction volumes and values across both physical and digital channels.

Moniepoint reported that its microfinance bank processed over 14 billion transactions worth ₦412 trillion in 2025, accounting for about 80 per cent of in-person payments in Nigeria.

Its web payment gateway, Monnify, recorded transactions totaling ₦25 trillion during the same period, driven by increased uptake of online and business-to-business payments.

The company also noted that businesses that received loans through its platform experienced an average growth of more than 36 per cent.

The microfinance bank re-launched its savings product, with user data showing daily saving as the most common habit, while business operations, rent, and education were the top savings categories.

The company also introduced Moniebook and obtained a national microfinance bank licence, broadening its suite of regulated financial services.
