Microsoft is enhancing its AI-driven Security Copilot with the introduction of autonomous agents designed to assist security teams in managing growing cybersecurity threats.
Launched a year ago as a chatbot for security operations, the Security Copilot will now feature six Microsoft-developed AI agents and five additional agents created in collaboration with industry partners.
The six Microsoft security agents, set to launch in preview next month, are designed to handle critical security tasks, including triaging phishing and data loss alerts, prioritizing high-risk incidents, and monitoring system vulnerabilities.
“These AI agents allow teams to autonomously manage high-volume security and IT tasks while integrating seamlessly with Microsoft Security solutions,” said Vasu Jakkal, corporate vice president of Microsoft Security.
Microsoft is also partnering with OneTrust, Aviatrix, BlueVoyant, Tanium, and Fletch to provide third-party security agents. These will offer expanded capabilities, such as analyzing data breaches with OneTrust and conducting root cause analysis of network failures with Aviatrix.
AI-powered agents are becoming a key selling point for businesses adopting Microsoft’s AI tools. Earlier this year, the company relaunched its Copilot for businesses, offering free AI chat services and pay-as-you-go AI agents.
In addition to expanding Security Copilot, Microsoft is strengthening its phishing protection in Microsoft Teams. Starting next month, Microsoft Defender for Office 365 will provide enhanced security within Teams, offering improved safeguards against malicious links and attachments.
Microsoft is expected to unveil more security innovations at its Microsoft Secure event on April 9. Further details are available on the company’s security blog.
