Microsoft experienced outages in its Azure cloud and 365 services on Wednesday, just hours ahead of its scheduled earnings report.
Users took to social media to report difficulties accessing websites and services powered by Microsoft, while the company’s own website also went offline.
Downdetector, which tracks user-reported issues, noted that the disruptions began around 11:40 a.m. ET.
Microsoft has not immediately responded to requests for comment but confirmed the disruptions on its Azure and 365 support accounts on X.
“We’re investigating an issue impacting several Azure services,” the Azure support account said. Customers may experience issues when accessing services. Updates are provided via the Azure status.”
On Azure’s status page, Microsoft noted that “customers may be experiencing issues accessing the portal” and later updated that a “loss of availability of some services” started around noon ET.
“Our investigation into the contributing factors and additional recovery workstreams continues,” the status site said. “More information will be provided within 60 minutes or sooner.”
Microsoft’s 365 status account stated, “We’re investigating reports of issues accessing Microsoft 365 services and the Microsoft 365 admin center. More details can be found in the Service Health Dashboard under MO1181369.”
The outages follow closely on the heels of a major disruption at Amazon Web Services just over a week ago, which affected numerous high-profile websites.
