In a recent blog post, Meta shared that users can now utilize their Avatars during video calls on both Instagram and Messenger.
These Avatars, which bear a resemblance to Apple’s Memoji avatars, will even mimic users’ facial expressions and mouth movements.
The feature is being rolled out for both Android and iOS devices, enhancing the interactive experience for users.
Meta’s latest update allows users to bring their digital Avatars to life during video chats on Instagram and Messenger, eliminating the need to turn off their cameras.
In the demo video showcased on the blog post, the Avatars displayed in video calls share a likeness to Apple’s Memoji avatars, as they effortlessly mirror users’ facial expressions and mouth movements.
Furthermore, Meta has introduced animated avatar stickers and social stickers.
Users can now share these animated emojis, such as thumbs up, applause, or facepalm, on various platforms including Instagram and Facebook Stories, Reels, Messenger, and Threads.
This dynamic feature adds a new level of expression and interaction to users’ online conversations.
In addition to these updates, Meta is currently testing a feature on Facebook and WhatsApp where users can take a live selfie to create their own personalized avatar.
This feature aims to closely resemble the user’s real-life appearance, providing a more authentic digital representation.
Meta is also working towards standardizing the look of avatars across all its platforms, including VR Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp.
