Meta and EssilorLuxottica on Friday introduced a new line of Oakley smart glasses, featuring Meta’s built-in AI assistant.
Named the Oakley Meta HSTN, the device is the latest innovation to emerge from the companies’ ongoing multiyear collaboration.
The HSTN smart glasses — pronounced “how-stun” — are designed with athletes in mind and start at $399. They mark Meta and EssilorLuxottica’s first venture beyond the Ray-Ban brand in their smart glasses lineup.
The partnership began with the launch of their first smart glasses in 2021, gaining unexpected traction with the second-generation release in 2023.
Meta said the new smart glasses feature Oakley’s PRIZM Lens technology, engineered to enhance visual clarity for athletes in varying light and weather conditions.
The Oakley Meta HSTN also offers a longer battery life and an upgraded camera compared to the second-generation Ray-Ban Meta glasses, which start at $299.
A limited-edition version of the HSTN glasses, featuring gold lenses and accents, will be available for preorder on July 11 at a price of $499. The standard Oakley Meta HSTN model is set to launch later this summer.
Meanwhile, other tech companies are also making moves in the smart glasses space.
In May, Alphabet announced a $150 million partnership with Warby Parker to develop eyewear powered by Google’s Gemini AI assistant.
Snap, on its part, revealed plans this month to debut its sixth-generation augmented reality smart glasses in 2026.
