Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, stated on Thursday that Meta would consider making money from the new Twitter rival, Threads.
He claimed that while Meta is now focusing on gaining more users for the new microblogging software, the business will consider monetizing it after its user base reaches one billion.
This was expressed by Zuckerberg in a post on Threads on Thursday.
“Our approach will be the same as all our other products: make the product work well first, then see if we can get it to a clear path to 1 billion people, and only then think about monetization at that point,” he said.
The internet giant company’s newest social media programme, Threads, is anticipated to be a major challenger to Twitter. This development followed Twitter’s activation of a feature that restricts the number of daily postings users may view on the platform.
Text-based posts can be liked, shared, and commented on in threads similar to Twitter.
