Meta Platforms is expanding its push into subscription-based services, testing a new paid tier for WhatsApp that offers enhanced customization features.
According to WABetaInfo, the company is rolling out a “WhatsApp Plus” plan to a limited group of users.
The subscription includes cosmetic and quality-of-life upgrades such as exclusive stickers, themed interfaces, custom app icons, premium ringtones, the ability to pin up to 20 chats, and tools that allow users to apply custom settings across multiple conversations at once.
A screenshot shared by WABetaInfo shows the service priced at €2.49 per month, just under $3, positioning it close to Snapchat Plus, which costs $3.99 per month and offers similar premium features.
The new tier is currently available only on WhatsApp Messenger, excluding WhatsApp Business users. The rollout is focused on Android devices, with iOS support planned for a later stage.
The move follows Meta’s broader strategy to diversify revenue beyond advertising.
Last month, the company began testing an Instagram Plus subscription on Instagram, offering exclusive Story-related tools such as custom audience controls and extended Story durations beyond the standard 24-hour limit.
