The Lagos State Internal Revenue Service on Tuesday announced a conference with stakeholders in the local government revenue collecting system.
According to The Punch, a statement made by the Lead Consultant at Korki & Associates, Kehinde Bamigbetan, stated that the seminar last year on professionalizing the revenue operations in local governments drew on the successes of that event.
It stated that the summit’s topics would include the workings of local government’s revenue committees, effective revenue collection in the unorganized sector, and cooperation between local governments and the LIRS to harmonize taxes for the benefit of taxpayers.
It also stated that the keynote talk would be delivered by LIRS Chairman Mr. Ayo Subair.
Other prominent speakers during the summit include the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government & Chieftaincy Affairs, Mrs. Kikelomo Abolarin, LIRS Director, Informal Taxation & Special Duties, Ms. Folashade Coker, and LIRS Revenue Manager, Mr. Segun Tijani.
The chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, Hon. Kolade Alabi, and the chairman of the Local Government Service Commission, Hon. Kamal Baiyewu, among others, would participate in the brainstorming session, according to the statement.
