LinkedIn, the renowned professional network synonymous with job listings, is making waves in the gaming world with its introduction of Wordle-style puzzle games.
Following their initial sighting within the app weeks ago, the company is rolling out three engaging games to its platform.
The trio of games includes Pinpoint, challenging players to decipher the underlying theme connecting a series of words; Queens, a captivating blend of Sudoku and Minesweeper; and Crossclimb, a trivia game requiring players to guess and arrange a sequence of four-letter words.
Described by LinkedIn as “thinking-oriented games,” these offerings bear a striking resemblance to the popular games featured in The New York Times Games app.
Each game can be played once per day, with players sharing their scores via emoji-filled messages reminiscent of the beloved “Wordle grid.” Additionally, the platform will track players’ streaks to foster daily engagement.
The development of these games comes as no surprise, considering LinkedIn’s recent expansion of its news team, which now includes a dedicated games editor.
Gaming has proven to be a lucrative venture for publications, notably exemplified by The New York Times’ acquisition of Wordle in 2022, inspiring others to follow suit with their own lineup of word and puzzle games.
As LinkedIn ventures into the gaming sphere, it aims to offer users not only professional opportunities but also entertaining diversions that stimulate mental agility and foster community engagement.
With its latest foray, LinkedIn is poised to carve out a unique space in the realm of online gaming, catering to a diverse audience seeking both career advancement and recreational pursuits.
