Lagos warns of traffic around Pen Cinema ahead of food hub launch

The Lagos State Government has advised motorists and residents to expect increased traffic around the Pen Cinema-Agege axis on Wednesday ahead of the inauguration of the Fresh Food Hub in the area.

The state Ministry of Transportation issued the advisory in a statement shared on its official X account on Tuesday.

The inauguration of the facility by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is scheduled to take place between 11 am and 3 pm at Pen Cinema, Agege.

The ministry said the event, organised by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Systems, was expected to attract a high volume of vehicular and human traffic around the area.

“Due to the high volume of vehicular and human traffic expected around the Pen Cinema–Agege axis on account of the event, motorists plying this route are advised to plan their movement ahead of time to reduce congestion and delay,” the statement said.

It added that officers of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority would be deployed to manage traffic during the event.

“As is routine for events of this nature, officers of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority will be deployed to manage traffic flow and minimise inconvenience to road users within the axis and its environs,” the ministry said.

The government urged motorists to cooperate with traffic officials deployed to the area and consider alternative routes where possible.

“Motorists and commuters are advised to use alternative routes where possible during the period of the event and to exercise patience while transiting the area,” it added.

The ministry said the advisory was intended to help reduce the impact of the expected traffic on road users within the axis and its environs.

“The state government regrets any inconvenience this may cause and appreciates the understanding and cooperation of all road users as it continues to deliver projects that improve the livelihood of Lagosians,” the statement said.
