This signing of the Memorandum of Understanding was overseen by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
at the State House in Marina on Tuesday, according to Nairametrics.

The partnership aims to optimise resources and expedite the 1,830 active capital projects in Lagos.

This initiative is part of the state’s approach to
increase efficiency, lower risk, and improve quality of life for residents.

Governor Sanwo-Olu stressed the partnership’s timeliness in light of the difficulties caused by rising material costs and disruptions to the world economy. In order to guarantee project delivery on schedule, he emphasized the necessity of strategically allocating resources and confirming project management techniques.

Sanwo-Olu stated, “We are at a critical time when leaders are finding it challenging to implement and activate projects that will improve the quality of life for their citizens. It is a challenge now, given the global disruption we have seen over the last few years and its impact on economic growth. This is making it difficult to even plan for long-term projects, but decisions have to be made in this difficult terrain.

“This partnership with PMI comes at the right time to validate our strategies, help us channel resources to where they are most needed, and ensure that the outcomes of our investment are delivered in a timely manner. This will help our project executing MDAs raise efficiency and further enhance their knowledge on project performance and execution. I believe the partnership will scale up professional competence and capability in the way projects are handled in the public sector.”

The PMI team, headed by the Managing Director for Sub-Saharan Africa, Mr. George Asamani, and the Project Implementation and Monitoring Unit (PIMU) of the State Government signed the MOU.

According to Asamani, the deal will provide the state with cutting-edge expertise, knowledge exchange, and training to enable it to deliver projects with quality assurance.

Executive Assistant to the Governor on Project Implementation and Monitoring Unit, Mr. Olusegun Sanwo-Olu said that PMI’s fifty years of experience would catalyze effective management and capacity building that adheres to the highest standards of excellence.

In addition, he outlined the advantages of the partnership, such as improved project management techniques that allow for more timely, within-budget, and scope delivery.

As part of the planned Quality Bus Corridor (QBC) project package 3, the Lagos State Government announced plans to build 31 bus shelters along the Igando to Iyana-Iba axis. This construction is in line with existing capital projects targeted at improving governance and infrastructure. The initiative intends to enhance citizens’ commuter experiences and improve the infrastructure for public transportation.
