KPMG names ex-Statistician General of Nigeria chief economist

Former Nigerian Statistician-General Dr. Yemi Kale has been named KPMG Nigeria’s Chief Economist.

On March 9, 2023, KPMG Nigeria, one of the top professional services companies in the nation, made this news.

The well-known economist and statistician Dr. Kale is considered as one of the most knowledgeable and esteemed experts in his area. His tenure as Nigeria’s Statistician General, a position he held for more than a decade, is what made him most well-known.

Under his direction, the National Bureau of Statistics conducted numerous surveys and gathered information on important economic indicators, including as inflation rates, GDP growth, and unemployment rates.

Dr. Kale’s new responsibilities at KPMG Nigeria include giving clients in a range of industries specialized economic research and insights. He will also be expected to counsel KPMG Nigeria’s management team on economic and political matters that might have an impact on the company’s operations or those of its clients.

Yemi has a first-class bachelor’s degree in science with honors in economics from Addis Abeba University, as well as a master’s degree with distinction and a doctorate in economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

He has extensive experience in macroeconomic analysis, financial, economic, and investment research, as well as advising on fiscal and macroeconomic policy, having worked in both the public and private sectors.

He held the position of Statistician General of the Federation/Chief Executive Officer of the National Bureau of Statistics from 2011 until 2021.
