The 400-kilometer railway line between Kano and Maradi would be finished by 2025, according to the project’s contractors, Mota-Engil Nigeria Limited.

Speaking to journalists while receiving over $200 million in heavy-duty equipment to be deployed for the rail project, the company’s Logistics Manager, Mr. Nuno Colaço, said construction of the rail project has begun.

He underlined the firm’s commitment to boosting its investment in Nigeria and cited it as one of the continent’s most promising investment destinations.

“In order to begin investing in the country, we teamed up with Shoreline in 2018. We have been given the contract for the $2 billion Kano-Maradi railway project, which spans 400 km from Dutse in the Niger Republic to Maradi. We have to purchase a lot of equipment, and we prefer brand-new, cutting-edge items,” he stated.

He claimed that they have a lot of projects in the works and are very optimistic about the future in Nigeria.” While we only have 49%, Shoreline has 51%. Our primary line of work is construction, but we also do civil construction such as building roads and dams. We are engaged in the entire construction phase. The railway line between Kano and Maradi has already begun.”

He claimed that purchasing the equipment is a wise investment for both the present and the future.

He also added that the project represents a milestone not just for Nigeria’s railway infrastructure development but also for all of West Africa.

Additionally speaking, the customs controller for Tin Can Island Command,Mr. Adekunle Oloyede, noted a recent decline in cargo throughout the ports and expressed his joy at the amount of the Mota-Engil import, adding it is clear that the Nigerian economy is recovering.

The most recent additions to MOTA-ENGIL include wheel loaders, backhoe loaders, crawler excavators, medium-lift crawler excavators, heavy-lift crawler excavators, truck-mounted concrete pumps, concrete mixer vehicles, and telehandlers.
