Kaduna Electric has announced a tariff hike for Band A feeders, raising the rate from N206.80/kwh to N209.5/kwh beginning July 1, 2024.
In an official statement, Kaduna Electric affirmed the tariff adjustment for Band A feeders, which increased the cost from N206.80/kwh to N209.5/kwh.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Head of Corporate Communications at Kaduna Electric, Abdulazeez Abdullahi intimating customers about the rise.
The revised tariff rate took effect on July 1, 2024, as mentioned in the notice issued on July 3, 2024, and affected both prepaid and postpaid users
On Tuesday, Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu addressed the new tariff revision, emphasizing that the Band A tariff remained more cost-effective than Nigeria’s self-generated energy sources.
Adelabu underlined that Band A feeders account for 40% of energy usage in the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI).
The recent tariff increase comes amid protests by the Nigerian Labour Congress calling for non-discriminatory prices and a reversal of the raise.
This suggests other power distribution companies (DisCos) around the country may soon follow suit with pricing rises.
However, despite the tariff increase for Band A, Kaduna Electric confirmed that the rates for bands B, C, D, and E will remain unchanged.
Kaduna Electric also assured its tariff-hiked consumers that they can expect at least 20 to 24 hours of power every day.
